Explore Tokyo: Shibuya Guide

The Shibuya area in Tokyo is a popular district for shopping, entertainment and nightlife.  It’s located between the equally popular Shinjuku and Harajuku areas and a good central point to stay if you visit Tokyo.  Most of the well-known shops and restaurants are located around Shibuya Station and you’ve probably seen pictures of the busy Shibuya Crossing or heard about Hachiko, the loyal dog’s statue.  Here’s some of my recommendations on what to see and do in Shibuya.

10 Things to do in Madrid’s city center

Madrid is one of those cities I constantly long to go back to.  I can see myself living, working and eating here.  I’m in love with the Spanish way of life, the ‘duende’ you’ll hear many of them speak of.  Madrid’s city center is a great place to get an idea of what Madrid is about and it can easily be explored on foot.  After you’ve explored the city center, you can head out into the other areas like El Rastro La Latina, Lavapiés etc.  Here’s my best 10 things to see and do in the center.

Croatian Adventure: The Lovely Rovinj

Rovinj is a picturesque town in the North of Croatia on the Istrian peninsula.  Rovinj made quite an impression on me with its beautiful colorful old town and the huge stone tower looming over the city from a top the hill.  It reminds me strongly of Venice but with a flavor of its own.  I had the best time walking round this ancient port city and would recommend it for anyone traveling to Croatia.

Exploring Tokyo: Asakusa Guide

Tokyo is a big city with many layers to it.  It’s impossible to try to reveal all the layers during a five-day stay, but I certainly tried my best.  Asakusa falls under Eastern Tokyo in the Taito ward and it is separated from the more industrial Oshiage area, where you find the Tokyo Skytree, by the Sumida River.  So what is there to see in this old entertainment district?

What about Nice? A city on its own

The first thing you’ll hear about Nice, the fifth biggest city in France, is its blue waters and famous pebble beaches.  The capital of the Côte d’Azur is unlike any of the other big French cities.  It’s glitzy but not quite like Paris, it’s a port city but not quite like Marseille, a resort town but not quite like St. Tropez…

Relaxing at a rooftop bar with a view of Barcelona

Barcelona has many things on offer for every type of visitor that pranced through its city streets.  It can take more than a few visits to this diverse city to truly get the most out of all it has to offer.  On my third visit here, my friend suggested that we go look for the rooftop bar in La Rambla that someone had told her about.  I found myself thinking: In La Rambla?  Where all the gazillion tour groups wander through and immigrant hawkers hound you around every corner?  Boy was I surprised at what we found!
